freshman reflection

            Before i got to parkway west i think that i was more devoted to my work and getting good grades. there was really only one reason that i strived so hard to achieve becoming number one in my 7th and *th grade classes. that reason was a kid named yeriyah richardson. he was super smart and everybody gave him the title of "the smartest in the class." i hated that because i knew that i was smart and that i could out do this kid. i am a competitor and because of that i challenged him with every classwork, homework, assessment, and project. even though sometimes he said he didnt care that i beat him i knew he did  because beside from being my rival he was also my good friend.
           now that i am in parkway i dont work nearly as hard as i did in middle school. i need a new challenge now that yeriyah and i dont go to the same school. when i look around my classroom i see a bunch of people who are smart in fact all of them are indeed smart, but i know i could be on top of them if i really tried. none of these people are so smart that i cant surpass or be on their level. however there is this one girl, khadidrah. she is really smart all around, she may  be the one. even though this year i can admit that she is on top, i will try next school year to reach her. i cant alllow her to steal all the awards in our 12th grade year.
              as of now i do think of myself as lazy or lazier than i should be. i made a pact to myself that i will continue to achieve good grades. thats is what im doing but no more or no less. i do expect differently out of myself next school year.i look to excel farther in my education and better myself.






        

AI's surprises his former team at a Sixer's game, cries

             as now an honored guess they gave allen iverson the privelge to drop the ball at the game. his fans, coach, and teammates welcomed him with hugs and applause. everyone was happy to see him, but it was disappointing not being able to see him play and return to his former glory. even though age is giving in to allen iverson he has not retired. he said and i quote, "im not using that word (retired). i want toplay basketball so bad. the way it is right now, i have accepted the fact that the nba may not happen, but  i still want to play basketball." this show that after falling out the nba he is still eager to play the game and said so in an interview with lisa salters.
             Allen Iverson surprises philadelphia, presents sixers game ball before game ball before game 6 , wasnt just a shock to just to me, but to his other fans, his former teammates and his coach as well. this wasnt saw coming and it was happy moment. it brung back the memories of allen iversons NBA years. seeing his team and hearing his fans still cheer for him must have really touched him. he cried or teared walking to the sidelines. this was an upset. i must say AI appearance really motivated the sixers after all they did win the game. Go SIXERS!
             as a younger kid i love allen iverson. he was my favorite person on the 76sixers. he got all of the props, he was a superstart. i used to place bets on the sixers against other teams with my grandfather. the bet was that if the sixers won the game he owed me 5dollars but if they lost i owed him nothing. i always depended on ai's three pointers and they never failed. because of him i won the bets with my grandfather.  to be honest im not really a basketball guy but the one name that i can remember is allen iverson (AI)

do talk to strangers (this i believe)

           i have recently listened to an podcast on a girl explaining what she has been thought as a kid. she said she a been thought simple things like eat your vegetables,keep your finger out your nose, and dont talk to strangers.
            sabrina dubik, podcaster speaker said i believe that you should talk to strangers. by engaging a friendly unexpected conversation our lives can be effected my ways that are extrodinary. i agree with sabrina because before you meet any person in your life they are considered strangers because technically you dont know them.
             when parents tell their kids not to talk to strangers that rule is always  being broken. if it wasnt, children wouldnt have friends or communicate with the people in their everyday surrounding like school or work. if they werent talking to people and creating and building new friendships then their parents will think they have a social problem.
            this dont talk to strangers rule has connotations that are confussing and can be hard to interpret for some people. is talking to strangers a good thing or a bad thing. i for one think its a good thing.

Broadcasting....whiteness

           i think that there are not many shows on network television with diverse cast because like it is not that white people are better than blacks, its because white people are more committed to getting their education and pursuing a career. we blacks are capable of doing that to but we aren't as fortunate as them finacially wise.
           i dont agree with the aurthor that television is not diverse enough. a lot of the times we dont take the ignitiative to go for a big dream. a lot of us do have the skill and talent to be on television but we settle for less. once we take a wrong turn somewhere in our lives such as doing drugs and getting arrested its hard to find a career. our lives have been set back. after going to jail your life is basically set to fail because o wants to hire peple who has attended jail.
        i think that the director doesnt have a responsiblity to make tv more diverse. thats not what they teach them in school. they are taught to direct, thats it.
        i personally never had an experience where i have watch some thing and it was rascist. i stick to cartoons but thats not saying people dont say and do rascist stuff.

         This article of the New York Times is mostly about a clothing company called woolrich is creating pants perfect for carrying guns. they are called the chino pants. chino pants are flexible and has an additional pocket behind the traditional front pocket for a weapon. i think creating jeans specifically for guns provoke more violence and so does having concealed weapons. you see what happened to trayvon martin. " the guy thought he was concealing a weapon, and shot him. turns out he didnt even have poccession of any weapon."

          by creating clothing for carrying guns, it allows the buyers to contain more rugged gear, said shawn thompson blog. thompson has brought two shirts from the woolrich elite conceal carry line. that has allowed him to carry guns that are more equipped than small armed hand helds. the law is that you can carry and conceal hand held guns. now people are taking it out of proportion.

           i think these rules are all dumb. if the government really want to reduce the crime levels that should banned gun from the citizens. they should make me things more strick and enforced the laws better. the only people who should have pocession of gun are cops, armies, swat and the secret services. most of the crime that has happened in the U.S is from people being able to buy guns in the first place. even without a liscence people still have guns. there is no way that cops can check for a liscence for guns if they are concealed.

health fair

             the health fair had a good cost. the importance of the health fair was to push teens and others in the right direction for the future. the stuff that the seniors and their workers handed out was nutritious and education. we where provided with pamphlets, oranges, sanitizer, cups, notepad, condoms and other hand-outs.

              we were provided these things for preventions of sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancies and just for the knowledge of knowing how to do things correctly.

              they want us to take a step forward in our life.

              senior, matisse hill said, "part of the health fair was to show you about the things that aren't being seen today as a big problem." drugs, weed one of the common drugs is a big issue in today's society. he added, " weed is so normalized that people think its right, some people dont even pay attention to the drug usage."

              matisse came with his worker from child services to basically explain to us where drugs will get you in life,  and how if you get arrest even once it will set your life back. it will be harder to get a job.

              i think that the health fair and everything that came along with it was a good experiences. i also think that the way life is set up is unfair. if you make on mistake and go to jail your basically set to fail. for those especially the ones that didnt know the stuff they were informing us about was good for. everyday you learn something knew. and at our age this is what i think we should be learning about. the world is a crazy place. we need to know these things so we can create a new error of  becoming a better generation.

Evelyn Lozada Talks, Toss Bottle

             In the article, "Evelyn Lozada Talks, Toss Bottle," it was mainly about a previous episode on basketball wives where Evelyn tosses a wine bottle, then a plate at kenya bell, newbie because kenya wouldnt admit that she called evelyn "loose." apparently that really got under her skin. she was pissed.
             Originally the drama wasnt about ev and kenya, it was about kenya and other newbie, kesha. kenya was basically trying to make kesha look crazy, like a bad person and like a lier. once kesha had called kenya sad. she took off her shoes and wanted to go for kesha. kesha wasnt having that. kesha then came back and deciding she wasnt going to run. she was going to fight fire with fire. that's when word got out that kenya called evelyn loose. she couldnt even cover up what she said right.
             the next episode where the bottle throwing occurred evelyn confronted her at a resturant, during dinner with the rest of the stars. not admitting what she did evelyn got mad and tried to fight her. because tami roman got in the way of her. she picked up a wine bottle that was on display of the way, then a plate and chugged it. both things missed almost hitting suzie and shaunie.
              evelyn new she was wrong for doing that. she realized that if it wasnt for tami she would have been somewhere she didnt want to be. for that she was thank.
              in my opinion, i really think that kenya needed a beating for everything, especially lying in front of their faces and gossiping. she's really crazy and she needs help!!! i just dont think that evelyn she have threw a botlle or a plate at her. her anger really got the best of her.          

basketball wives tami roman has heart attack

       i read an article called 'Basketball Wives' Tami Roman Suffers Mild Heart Attack
       it was very shocking to find out that tami roman had a heart attack. she is a VH1 celebrity on a hit reality show called basketball wives. she has a very green personality. she is strong willed and outgoing. thats why she was able to overcome her recent heart attack on march 27th.
      "Roman, 41, was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for a medical emergency, according to a statement from her publicist, on VH1.com."
       to hear this, was a tragedy. thank god she recovered and at remarkable a remarkable past.
       in the article the release said, "She has since been released and would like to let her fans and supporters know she is doing fine and looks forward to resuming her scheduled engagements."
       i think the cause of tami's heart attack was all he drama going on in the ''circle.'' there is a lot going on with her and some of the other girls involved in the show. for right i think she she calm down for a while with the show and just focus on her and her two daughter. she probably scared them half to death with her attack. now its just time to chill.

Most Births Occur Outside Marriage

            In this article they give the reason that women got married because they were with child and so they could keep their respect up. i don't agree that a women should get married for a reason such as keeping your respect up. i believe that a women should only get married when they find that special someone that could spend the rest of their life. marriage is more than staying together because of a baby, it is committed and dedication. if you don't have that then you shouldn't get married. i think that less people are marrying before they have kids because there became thing as birth control and condoms.
           i don't think that it is a good think that more and more women are getting pregnant outside of marriage, but im not against it either. women now have a choice to get married if they have kid. they are no longer pressure nor expected to get married if they feel its not right.
           my parents are not married. my father died when i was young, but i have something close to a stepfather. They are not married either, but they are together. i personally dont think that it makes a diiferent if your parents arent married. mine aren't and i turned out just fine.

facebook is using you

            i worry about personal and private messages. sometimes i think like what if somebody find out about these messages or if the person i sent them to will share them. i dont worry about my facebook, twitter, or blog because my post are never personal. i just write little stupid stuff most of the time, as long as its appropriate then im cool.
            the main idea of this article is how internet users give away there information and how its being tracked to make money or to have a back-round check on you.
            as of right now im not that concerned , but in the future i will be because i dont want to be penalized by information over the internet. jobs are most important when you are older. that's what every thing mostly depends on i dont want to be denied because of cookies.
           nobody should be turned down because of gather information. you dont actually know the person. so get to know the person before you pass judgement on them.

           i read an article called " beyonce's baby a little tweetheart." in this article it seems like beyonce's newborn is already famous! according to article somebody has created a twitter profile name blue_ivy only weeks after she was born. before it was the twitter page was deleted the blue ivy user gain 12,000 followers. one of the tweets of her user was im blowing uo just like you thought i would. blue ivy is still a baby first of all. why would she have a twitter? she is an ordinary person just like us.
           lots of celebrities gave shout out to jay z and beyonce and their creation. being a partner of jay-z, pop singer rihanna felt close enough to call herself auntie. she said, “Welcome to the world princess Carter!” Rihanna tweeted, using the baby’s famous father’s real last name. “Love Aunty Rih.” 
           the birth of a new born child should be a celebration not to put them down. Celebrity tweeter Yandy Smith — of the VH1 reality TV show “Love & Hip Hop” — gave conspiracy theorists something to chew on by suggesting Beyoncé faked her weekend delivery. that wasnt very nice of her. as a fan of love and hip hop  i thought that i liked yandy. now i see why chrissy and her no longer have a relationship; she shoots below the belt! she no right to say something like that. its not her business and she doesnt know the situation, now i see she is just a hater and a wanna be!
            no baby should be praised famous or not. if you have a non-celebrity has a baby , no one would even think to make a twitter account dedicated to that child, if it does happen it wouldnt get close to the amount of followers blue has gained. everybody is the same. the difference between celebs and us is nothing! they sing, act, dance, and etc. a lot of us could to that too. i bet that anything they could do we can do just as well if we put our minds to it.

criminals

    I have recently read an article called i'm a criminal and so are you. in the article a lady explains how ever body is a criminal. she says"i am a criminal and so are you."in her article she said that everybody commits a crime at some point in their life.  haven't you ever stole from your corner store? have ever drove over the speed limit? than you criminal you just haven't been caught yet. most people dont think of it like that.
       "I doubt Barack Obama thinks of himself as a criminal, though he should. He has admitted to using illegal drugs during his college years -- lots, in fact. What if he thought of himself as a criminal? What if he identified that way? Would it lead him to feel a bit more compassion for those who are branded drug felons for life, unable to find work or housing, and deemed ineligible even for food stamps?" she said in her article.
       nobody should be treated differently. our president wasn't charge for drug posession enough though he admitted it. people that are founded with drug are usually charged with a consequence because un unprescribed drugs are illegal and shouldnt be tooken without a doctors authorization. there should be no pitty!

photoshopped or not

              the article "photoshopped or not" was about how  they use what they call adobe photo shop. they use it so when models take pictures and how they modify the pictures to make the models look flawless. they do it to get to get rid of small stuff like pimples. sometimes with the help of technology they even trim their weight making them look skinny and like the perfect beings.

              when ordinary people aren't fortunate enough to look like what they see people in magazine it drives them to make themselves sick because they think oh thats what im suppose to look like. from that people start trying to lose weight by not eating or eating less causing them to get eating disorders.

              modifying pictures in a big way is wrong to me. and effect to it causes people to have low self esteem and purposely and accidently hurt themselves because they want to look like what they see in magazines. making big changes of your look through technology doesnt really show the real you. its like having a fake identity because it not really the real you. 

               even though i think it's doesn't mean you should to. we all have different views of the situation. maybe by you reading my statement have made you turn to my beliefs or maybe it didnt. either ways its your choice.

            the article in humans cost are built in to ipads, the main idea of the article is 'the workers assembling iphones, ipads and other devices ofen labor in harsh conditions, according to employees inside those plants, worker advocates and documents published by companies themselves. problems are varied as onerous work environment and serious-sometimes deadly-safety problems. employees work excessive overtime, in some cases seven days a week, and live in crowed dorms. under-aged workers have helped build apple's products, and the company's suppliers have improperly disposed of hazardous waste and falsified records, according to company reports and advocacy groups that, within china, are often considered reliable, independent monitors.
            I feel as though that apple's worker are treated poorly and they deserve to be treated with more respect. they also should be paid more because 10 cent an hour is not cutting it with all of their hard work and put into it. apple is a billion dollar company and are underpaying their workers by a lot. their workers should make so much money that they are living in mansions and not have to live in small crowded dorms. apple is unfair. if they dont change their ways, i thing that they should be sued by each and everyone of their workers! if only the had the courage and the fight in them it could make a difference!
           i dont think that just because apple is treating their workers badly that im going to stop buying from them. they produce good quality items and i like them.

So far this year this winter doesn't actually feel like a winter. it has only snowed one time, and that came in mid january. to be winter in is fairly warm.

it seems like winters each year are getting warmer. with this happening we cant even have any white christmas'. we didnt even have a white christmas this year, there no fun in that. kids no longer get to go outside and have family experience and get active. usually in winter children along with the rest of there family and friend could and build a snow man, a fort.

winter has started on december 22 and it is now january 27 and people are dressing inappropriately. they are barely wearing clothes; its not the summer time. people have to realize that it is winter and they can get sick. this weather is no to be played with. you never know what it has in store for you!

Abortions

An abortion is one of those emotionally disturbing topics. Not all people are for it; I am. I believe that women should have the right to do as the please with their body even if it includes abortion; it’s their body. Abortion is by far one of the most controversial discussions in today’s society. People today need to understand the main reason why abortion was passed in the first place. In the younger days women weren’t allowed to abort their child, so they took an unprofessional approach to solve their problems like killing their self. This is why the Supreme Court made it optional to have abortions. 

         It’s nobody business what a women does to their body. Their needs and wants only concern them; they shouldn’t be judged. In some cases a female might get abortion because they don’t want to wreck their figure; now I agree that’s a selfish situation, but like I said they still have the right. On the other hand some women are being raped and impregnated by strange men. This then becomes an internal conflict. For me particularly, abortion would be an exception. Her first thoughts would whether to keep and nurture her child, put it up for adoption or about. Her decision may bring insecurities about herself, either way her life would never be the same as once before.

         Unplanned pregnancies can lead to many places, such as abortion. Whether or not a person had an abortion they should not be judged for whom they are; you don’t know what they have been through. It’s not any bodies place to actually say abortion isn’t right because the simple fact is that’s your opinion and it’s not your business.

most important news story of 2011

            I think the most story of last years was the death of osama bin latin. i believe the news of his death had a big impact on our society. lots of people cheered for his death. This is the main reason was the biggest threat to the u.s of a. years of our biggest downfall was due to this man on september eleven.
            He destroyed our nation landmarks and killed thousands of people along with them. There were unfortunately no survivors. Many families lost.
            To take out our buildings and citizens he had people people pose as ordinary people getting on airplanes. When the time was right his people took over the flights, by letting them know there was a bomb on board when it really wasn't.  They threatened to set it off it off if anybody tried something. All of those people were going to die anyway because they planned to use the airplanes as giant missiles. This was cruel and a foul action. No one should sacrifice their life for someone else pleasing.
           With this man dead we no longer have to worry about this happening again to our newer buildings. many people had there family members killed in this tragedy. now their long wait for some to avenge their loves ones was fulfilled all thanks to our first black president barack obama.

presidential, runners affairs

       i think that presidents or runners should not be penalized for what is going on in their personal life. It's none of the publics business. presidential affair should not be exposed. its like any citizen having affairs and getting exposed. it's embarrassing and it isn't right. no one in their right mind would want this to happen to them because it is their person life. everybody has affairs so it isnt right to pint the finger. just because presidents have affairs they shouldn't be penalized. they are no different from anybody else. they are also given the same rights. one of them is privacy.
      Some things isn't right. exposure to an certain extend is one of them. people who exposes affair are mostly likely have no life and is desperate. My personally feel that you should treat people how you want to be treated. this is something they surely would want happening to you unless you are on sick person.
